The high percentage of quartz present in granite makes it very hard and thus difficult to scratch. Due to their
extraordinary resistance, various types of granite were widely used by the greatest historical civilisations starting
from the Ancient Egyptians who used it to build temples and obelisks.
As well as quartz, granite is made up of other minerals that determine its colours and hues depending on the area
it comes from.
Compared to sandstone and marble, granite resists to corrosion caused by acid substances such as lemons,
vinegar, wine, tomatoes etc. and offers greater impact and stain resistance as well. Stains are also more easily
camouflaged by the typical granular structure of the surface, which is why granite is highly recommended for
worktops.
